When community leaders come together to make a difference, magic happens. That’s exactly what I experienced when my dear friend Darius Baxter, Founder and CEO of GOOD Projects, invited me to participate in an evening of giving back.
Darius, a man driven by a deep commitment to his community, inspires everyone around him with his dedication to ensuring people feel cared for, loved, and fed. When he called and said, "Come on down, it’ll be a great display of unity in our community," I couldn’t refuse. His enthusiasm was infectious, and I spent the evening lending a hand, embracing the spirit of Tzedakah (the Hebrew term for charity) with open arms.
A Thanksgiving Gift to the Community
In anticipation of Thanksgiving Day and the financial strain it can bring, Darius and his remarkable team at GOOD Projects partnered with the Islamic Relief Foundation and the Washington DC Commanders to distribute over 100 turkeys to families in need.
The atmosphere was electric. As families lined up outside, there was a palpable sense of hope and optimism. It wasn’t just about handing out turkeys—it was about fostering connection, love, and unity.
A Night to Remember
If the free turkeys weren’t enough to make the evening unforgettable, the event included a raffle where lucky winners walked away with free TVs. Colin from XYZ Jewelers took generosity a step further by volunteering to fund a few children’s birthday parties, spreading even more joy to families in need.

The smiles, gratitude, and warmth in the air made it an evening like no other. It was a powerful reminder of the impact we can have when we come together for a shared purpose.
Gratitude and Blessings
I’m deeply thankful to Darius for including me in this beautiful initiative. His tireless efforts make him a true angel in our community. God bless him and grant him the strength to continue this incredible work.

Moments like these remind us of the importance of giving back, especially during the holidays. They’re a chance to build stronger communities, create lasting memories, and ensure no one is left behind.
Here’s to more nights filled with love, unity, and generosity!
